BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Two pilots for Jet Blue have been arrested and charged with two counts of theft and one of felony battery. The men allegedly attacked Juan Martin, a Miami, Florida taxi driver, after Martin drove them from a Fort Lauderdale strip club to a Subway restaurant.
Fort Lauderdale detective Katherine Collins told The Miami Herald that the attack by William Hart Smith, 40, and Brad Leopard, 38, occurred around 2am on August 12. Martin dropped off his two passengers and they left the cab without paying their $9 fare. The driver then got out of his car, demanding payment.
According to the police report, Smith and Leopard repeatedly hit Martin in the head and face. Martin sustained injuries including a concussion, a broken ankle, and bruises on his elbow and knee. The pilots were arrested two weeks after the violent attack.
