Fort Lauderdale Man Charged With Raping Runaway Teen
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Police have arrested a man they say opened his home to a 15-year-old runaway, then had sex with her repeatedly. John Mark Bynes, 54, of Fort Lauderdale, is being held at the Broward County Main Jail. He has been charged with two counts of sexual battery, resisting arrests, and violation of probation.
The rape victim was from Fort Lauderdale but was living in Hollywood. Officials say that the two met through mutual friends and the teen called Bynes after running away from home in September and again this month. Police discovered Bynes after receiving an anonymous tip that “a culprit in a sexual battery case was at [Bynes’] address.
Authorities fear that Bynes may have raped other women who have not come forward.
